The power of stories is the focus of the What’s Your Story event on Friday, Oct. 13 and Saturday, Oct. 14 at the Ahern Hotel. Featured presenters from all walks of life will share their experiences of overcoming adverse situations, having gone through life’s hills and valleys, to achieve their dreams and passion, so others might find hope and inspiration for their own journeys. What’s Your Story founder Missy Day created the concept several years ago to inspire hope and encouragement for others. Michelle Hausbeck joined as a partner in 2020. “We are all wired to remember stories because they help us make sense of the world around us,” they said. “Stories provide hope, perspective, and inspiration, and often compel us into action. We may think our own story is insignificant, but they could provide a moment of hope to someone else.” Speakers include Connor Fields, Gary Miracle, Dean Smith, Sam Schmidt, and Deena Barnes. They will talk about how they persevered through loss of a loved one, trauma, illness, murder, abuse, addiction and/or forgiveness. Day and Hausbeck also will share their stories. The event begins Oct. 13. Registration opens at 4:30 p.m. with the program from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be a montage of eight speakers, and appetizers will be provided. On Oct. 14, the schedule is: registration and continental breakfast, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.; speakers, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; lunch, 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.; speakers, 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.; and closing remarks, 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Ticket prices are $197 per person and $985 for a table of eight. Teachers, first responders, nurses and military (active or retired) will receive $100 off of the individual ticket price by using the WYSTHANKS discount code when registering. Credentials must be shown at the door. Appetizers and non-alcoholic drinks on Friday and breakfast and lunch on Saturday are included with ticket purchase. The Ahern Hotel is located at 300 W. Sahara Ave. For information and registration, visit https://whatsyourstory.vegas/or the Facebook event link: https://fb.me/e/10Vw5LtzZ or email missy@missyday.com or michelle@hausbeckbrand.com. A portion of event proceeds will benefit Hope for Prisoners. The nonprofit organization assists with reentry by providing the formerly incarcerated with long-term support, services and hope as they work to reclaim their lives, families and standing in the community. Hope for Prisoners was established by Jon Ponder in 2010. After spending time in prison, he experienced firsthand the challenges others face when they are released. He realized there was a lack of long-term support and guidance for those who learned from their mistakes and had a genuine desire to change the direction of their lives. Through his efforts, Hope for Prisoners has served nearly 4,700 clients and boasts a 6% rate of recidivism. “The previous What’s Your Story events have proven to be inspirational, empowering and fun,” said Day and Hausbeck. “We hope others will join us as we all embark on life’s continuing journey together and bring their own story to this ongoing conversation.” # # #
