As we approach the November election, political discussions in the workplace are virtually unavoidable. From business owners and executives to people at every level in your organization, politics will inevitably be part of everyday conversation from now through November and can sometimes involve strong opinions and heated discussions. Employers need to get ahead of the political talk in order to minimize lawsuits and prevent employee conflict involving political expression at work. Problems often result when employees (and employers) are unaware of what they can and cannot say, and it is up to employers to implement a consistent policy on political activity to help ensure that partisan politics don’t become workplace wars. This program – tailored to HR professionals, in-house counsel and management – will address the risks related to political discussions in the workplace and how to best address them.
